*looks at the comments* It's impressive how a vaguely humanoid figure with no face can cause people to simp over it, but then again I was more interested in the plot the Narrator has with MC. I gotta say, when the Narrator told us of the deal and trying to find creative ways to kill the target, my mind instantly went through so many alternatives because of the manga and webtoons I read. I like the relationship between the two and maybe it was due to the lack of options MC has but I like to think they're pretty apathetic and uncaring of their own life, maybe that was why the Narrator proposed the deal when it saw how disturbingly apathetic MC was.

Aside from that, I like the way you wrote the Narrator's personality, it truly feels as though a spectator who doesn't truly care about the other person was being shown, not only that but the Narrator isn't like those morally upright judges you often see who judges your soul, the Narrator pretty much is a malevolant entity who just wants to cause chaos and mayhem but can't. So it must have pretty high expectation on MC or the Dollmaker.

Sounds like a terrifying duo as MC just kills whatever and whoever the Narrator wants, though I am kind of interested if at the end of MC's thousand kills if the Narrator has become quite fond of the MC and plans a betrayal in mind to keep them...

Either way, tis a funky lil visual novel! Enjoyed the creative juices it pumped in me!

Hiya, thank you so much for this comment! I'm really glad you enjoyed the plot and the relationship between these two characters. I've always really liked 'observer' characters, who sit on the sidelines and watch the chaos unfold, but I've always found a lot of them to be too lawful for my taste. Chaos is a lot of fun to write for me : ).

As for the MC, their apathy wasn't an initial intention, however I did notice it as I was writing and enjoyed it so much that I kept it in. Them plus the Narrator would be a pretty scary duo, although I can't confirm anything more than that, as I may be working on some more content for them... (in the far off future most likely- perks of being a student T-T)

Thank you so much for playing, and for enjoying the game!

Ah yes, the "perks" of being a student TvT either way whatever direction comes next would be fine as long as we keep the Narrator and MC's dynamic clear cut! Either way, I just can't help but think that MC is the Narrator's favorite actor on stage whose murder schemes become even more elaborate and insane to the point that even MC has started looking forward to it. It'd be cool to see what sort of people the Narrator targets for MC but no matter what, the two of them are a terrifying duo...

Murder husbands Also thank you for creating this funky lil visual novel!

Now....Now i'm not saying that I'm simping for ANOTHER narrator but
But hear me out.

(All my sillyness aside, this was a fun game! Very yip!!)

Sighs and adds another tally to the board of Narrator simps... (I entirely get what you mean)

Tysm for playing and enjoying!

Blame Stanley Parable....It's not my fault I promise.......

Ofc! I like the whole idea tbh, very spooky. The art was good too!

guys hear me out

sighs and adds another tally to the board

Cool game, although trying to get other endings, the game wouldn't let me and would stop at the ending every time i tried replaying/refreshing game.

Hiya, thank you so much for playing! I've unfortunately never encountered this particular issue while testing the game out myself, or in responses from friends or other players, so sorry for not catching it before, and that you've had to experience it. I'm not really sure what to suggest other than maybe relaoding the page, clearing browser cache/cookies or smth along those lines. I'll try testing it out myself to see if I can figure out what happened and if it's a file issue, and if it is I'll try and get a fix out. I hope you enjoyed the game anyhow!

Hey! thanks for the reply! I refreshed, cleared cache, restarted my computer, but came back and it still wouldn't let me restart the game to get the other endings.

Hiya, I've tried to replicate the issue on my end a few times and it doesn't seem to happen for me. Unfortunately I'm not particularly tech savvy and don't really know how to resolve the issue. Apologies for not being able to help more. I've made a note of the problem but it might be a browser or computer issue in which case I won't be able to do anything. If I manage to find the problem myself, or a solution comes up at any point, I'll let you know. Again, really sorry about the issues.

I really love the artwork you did for the Narrator in this game; for a shadow, he is really expressive and the eldritch forms are beautiful. Was a great short game, I had a lot of fun collecting the endings; it was entertaining to find all the ways to antagonise the Narrator. I would honestly love to play through a sequel where we got to go through with the deal. Great job!

Hiya, thank you so much for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed and liked The Narrator- as a fan of eldritch horror, I always love seeing others enjoy their more terrifying forms...

As for a sequel, I am considering potentially making one, although if I di, it won't be for a little bit as I want to improve my skills with Fungus and Unity in order to make a continuation I can be truly proud of. If/when I do make a sequel though, I'll be sure to post a devlog here, so keep an eye out for that!

shiit.. the narrator do be lookin kinda........... 😳 I wouldn't mind spending eternity with this guy..

What if I just go insane and drop a narrator dating sim. What then.

(All jokes aside, thank you for the comment and for playing!)

You're welcome! I loved the game by the way!

(and if you dropped a narrator dating sim, I would 100% play it, lol)

Fun fact: when I was first developing the 'scary' sprites for the narrator, I sent them to a few friends for a second opinion. Pretty much all of them said that as well.

I like especially the different appearances of the narrator, that they don't look the same all the time. They are voiceacted by my cat, so it sounds a bit weird. Enjoyable and unique, good work.

This game is really interesting! I like the dialogue and character design. Will there be a sequel where we unlock more about our past and get to earn points?

Hi, thank you so much for playing! While I have no plans to make a sequel just yet, since I'm still very unused to Unity and making games myself, I may make a sequel or extension of this game some day as I did really enjoy working on it. Before I do that, however, I plan to learn more about Fungus and Unity so that I can ensure that the game I make is one I can be proud of. If/when I do release any content extensions, I'll be sure to upload a devlog about it, so keep an eye out for those!

i only said "..."

wait this is only 4 days old

...

I really loved this. Only suggestion is an end screen, I thought I broke the game lol.

Hi, thank you so much for playing! I've just released an update with end screens and replay buttons so that this isn't an issue anymore. Still, I'm glad you enjoyed it regardless!

Thanks for the update! It really is a great game, I hope to see more updates in the future! Followed!

I kept clicking the black screen at the end, thinking that I would get to chose how the people die... =) Or maybe my computer is just not loading up...

Unfortunately you don't get to decide how the pople die, as this game only covers the conversation between the Narrator and the player. It's the first thing I've ever made with Fungus, so I made it a manegable length for me to get used to working with the program. I'm hoping to get some time soon to put end screens in instead of just blackouts though since I know they've been a little confusing. Thank you so much for playing!

this is a great game!!

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed!!

I really like this game interesting story line; I hope you continue to make more amazing games!
